wholemeal flour1.5 cups (240 g)

plain flour1 cup

bicarbonate of soda1 tsp

honey1 tsp

buttermilk300 ml

salt1 tsp
Method

- Preheat the oven to 190oc/ 170oc fan.
- Add your flours and bicarb to a mixing bowl and mix. Pour in the buttermilk, honey and salt and start to bring the dough together with your hands and create a ball. Add a splash of water if too dry.
- Place the ball on a lined baking tray with a little flour and push it down a little to create a slightly flattened ball.
- With a sharp knife cut a cross in the middle of the dough to allow the steam to escape.
- Place into the oven for 30-40 minutes until you have a hard golden crust and when you knock on the bottom of the bread it sounds hollow.
