This is a great dish to make in minutes, layer up and put in the freezer. Knowing you have a full one pot meal ready to go at a moment’s notice.

Ingredients

  • Haggis
    1 large
  • Mashed turnip (ready made)
    2 packets (375 g)
  • Mashed potato (ready made)
    2 packets (375 g)
  • (optional) ready-made creamy whisky sauce
    1 packet

Method

  1. Get a good freezer dish, preferable one with a sealable lid.

  2. Open your haggis and slice it into ½ com slices and layer on the bottom of the dish.

  3. If you want to add the whisky sauce you can now add it over the haggis.

  4. Next take your mashed turnips and spread them over the haggis so they cover it in full.

  5. Then do the same with the mash potatoes.

  6. Ready to Freeze

Simply label the lid, put it on the dish and add to your freezer.

  7. Ready to Eat

Take this out the night before you want it and allow it to defrost in the fridge overnight.
Put in Oven at 180ºc for 30- 40 minutes or until piping hot throughout.

  1. Hi
Would it be ok to substitute the Turnip for Carrot? My kids don’t like the turnip so when I make Haggis, I always mash up carrot instead, but I’ve never made it as a casserole before (which I think sounds awesome!) and I wouldn’t want to ruin it if the carrots were too watery or something?

    Thanks!
