Ingredients

  • Hot cross buns
    4 buns
  • eggs
    2 egg
  • Milk
    0.5 cups (120 ml)
  • cinnamon
    0.5 tsp
  • caster sugar
    2 tablespoon
  • vanilla essence
    1 tsp
  • butter
    1 Knob

Method

    1. Cut your hot cross buns in half and set aside.

    2. To a mixing bowl add the eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar and vanilla and whisk well.

    3. Place a non stick frying pan on a medium heat and add a knob of butter.

    4. Take each slice of hot cross bun and dip into the egg, making sure to turn lots so that each slice is well coated. In batches of 3 or 4 cook for 2 minutes on each side or until golden and then remove from the pan and leave to cool.

Ready to freeze

  1. Once cooled, add to a freezer bag with a small slice of greaseproof paper in between each slice to prevent them from sticking to each other.

Ready to eat

  1. Remove from the freezer and pop into the microwave for 1-2 minutes until hot through. Serve with yoghurt and banana for a great breakfast.
