Ingredients

  • Double cream
    1 pot (600 ml)
  • Sweetened condensed milk
    1 can (397 g)
  • Vanilla extract
    1 tsp

Method

  1. Tip all the ingredients into a mixing bowl. Give them a gentle stir with a spoon to start. Then with an electric whisk, mix until it thickens up, about 5 minutes.

  2. You can add any other flavours you like before freezing.

  3. Transfer the mixture to a freezer dish. Cover with a lid or cling film.

  4. Freezing tip

Using an ice cream scoop, you can place individual scoops onto baking parchment on a baking tray. Once the individual scoops are frozen, place them in a freezer bag and store in the freezer, leave this to freeze for 5 hours or preferably overnight, ready to serve.

  1. Instead of scooping out the ice cream, I put a star nozzle in a disposable piping bag and pipe our ice cream ‘roses’. Perfect portion control and a lovely presentation idea

  2. I liked that you explained that it would be smart to add flavors you like before you freeze the ice cream. It would be fun to try to make my own ice cream but I am not a very patient person, and this seems like something you would need to be patient with. It might be better for me to go get some ice cream from a good ice cream parlor.

    1. Hi Penelope, I’m all for saving time so that’s a super easy way to create your own favourite flavours and experiment – have fun with it!

    2. Honestly it took me 15 minutes to make & a couple of hours in freezer & it was far better than anything from a shop 😋
