Gluten Free Chocolate Almond Torte

This is the most amazing chocolate torte. Rich, decadent and gluten free!

  • Dark chocolate
    250 g
  • butter
    200 g
  • eggs
    6 medium
  • caster sugar
    250 g
  • ground almonds
    75 g
  • almond essence
    1 tsp

Method

    1. Preheat the oven to 160oc. 
    2. Line a 9inch springform tin with greaseproof paper and butter the sides.
    3. Place the chocolate and butter in a large saucepan and melt on a low heat. Once melted, take off the heat and add in the sugar and ground almonds and mix well. Next add the eggs one by one, whisking in between and then stir in the almond essence.
    4. Pour the batter into the tin and place in the oven for 45 minutes until set in the middle. Leave to cool in the tin.
  1. Ready to freeze

    Once cool, wrap up well in cling film and store in the freezer.

  2. Ready to eat

    Remove from the freezer and leave to defrost. Slice up and serve.

  1. Made this yesterday it was so easy to make and tasted absolutely amazing. My daughter in law who is gluten intolerant thought it was the best thing I’d ever made! My son said you would never know it was gluten free!! Definitely going to be making this again and again , hopefully might even manage to get one in the freezer if it’s not all eaten first.

    1. What chocolate did you use? Not sure if I should use cooking or eating chocolate.

  2. Hi there I saw this recipe and thought I’d give it a go. Well wow is all I can say, so easy to make and I’ve given it to my boys who said “it’s bangin” .
    I will definitely make this again and they have already put the order in for Christmas. Loved it.
