I am not a believer in being a martyr! I want to cook homemade food for my family, I am not a chef and I don’t have time to spend hours making all my dishes from scratch, so there are many shop bought items that I will often use.
Ready-made pizza dough, that’s ready to roll out.
Ready made Mash potato (can be found in the fresh fruit and veg section of the supermarket). I use this for lots of recipes, it has only got 3 ingredients so not full of e-numbers and it saves oodles of time.
Ready to roll pastry- all kinds, I just don’t have time to make pastry from scratch.
Jars of paste- I do not buy large jars of sauce as they are often filled with lots of sugar etc, but I do buy jars of paste that are simply herbs and flavour’s in some oil to preserve them.
My overall aim is to get homemade meals in the freezer as quick as possible, so they are ready to pull out whenever I need them. If there are products out there that can help you I’m all for using them!
Look out for my ‘what’s in the shops’ YouTube episodes coming soon.
